How to Concentrate Like Einstein

"If I'm going to play, it's going to be 100-percent commitment." -Brett Favre

Do you want a trick you can use to become 100% focused at will?

Here it is:
If you need to concentrate on any task - Time It!

Why time yourself?

There are two main benefits to timing your activities.

Imagine you are playing soccer. Suddenly, you remember there is something else you have to do. Would you immediately stop playing the game for the new task?

No, you wouldn't because, soccer games are timed - 90 minutes. Therefore, you can easily push aside the “distraction” and concentrate on the game because, you know you would be through in “X” minutes.

Time limits enable us to give our all and to focus at will for a brief period

Time limits also allow us to start tasks that we don't like. Here's an example.

Has your Dad, Mom or friend ever made you do a task you didn't like with the phrase, “...just for five minutes?”

Everyone falls for that line. You'll remember that you were able to work for 10-20 minutes on that task because of the supposed “5 minute” time frame.

In other words, you can use time limits to combat procrastination.

Action Guide

Are there tasks you need to get today?
  • Write them down on a sheet of paper.
  • Assign a small amount of time to each task to get you started.

Tomorrow, create a new list and do the same. Gradually but surely, you will get more things done than ever before.

Ps: Hone your ability to concentrate with this timing trick and you will become more successful.
