People are so deceptive that having a lie detector wouldn't not guarantee that you wouldn't get lied to. Here's an example.
Ladies would pass lie detectors when say they want caring, gentle, loving guys. In the end, they run into the uncaring arms of assholes.
Companies spend millions asking customers what they want. Customers would also pass lie detectors when they claim to want A but eventually buy B.

Until we develop computers that can get the truth directly from subconscious minds of people, I'd say, take people's words with a pinch of salt. Instead, watch their actions.
